Hey All!

Just found this forum and thought I'd introduce myself, I bought a white 2017 Alltrack SE back in August and so far, we've been very pleased with it. (It's the wife's car, I've got an '11 GTI of my own). Since it was brand new, maintenance stuff has been on the back burner a bit and my GTI has needed more attention due to it's age, but we hit 10,000 miles on the Alltrack, so time to get serious.

When we bought it we paid for the standard 3yr/$499 VW Care and I'm starting to think I would have been better off not getting it. The manager assured me that the 30,000 mile check-up essentially pays for the plan as that's when the the DSG gets a major service, but looking closer that the manual and "recommended 10/20/30k maintenance" I found that in reality each 10/20/30 is just an oil/filter change fill wiper fluid and checks on brakes, battery, etc They even tried to nickel and dime me $35 to rotate the tires with the 10k service (I can't believe that's not even included in routine PAID maintenance anymore). There's not even a recommended air filter change (cabin or engine) until 40k+ that would be included in the VW "Care".

So did I really pay $499 for just three oil changes? Anyone else bought the VW Care and get more out of it from their dealer? Is it possible to "return" the unused portions as I'll gladly change my own oil and filters (probably sooner too).

Also, since the recommended maintenance is incredibly lax IMO what are you guys planning in regards to that? How often for air filter/plugs/coils/fuel filter/brake fluid/etc? All the regular stuff that I can be taking care of regularly myself.

Thanks!
